Paper Evaluation

My McCandless Response essay was one of my more clear and well thought out papers, yet I would have to evaluate it as it currently as a middle level paper. While my argument is good, I feel like its not much of a point to make. Furthermore, while my paper is clear and easy to read, I am lacking in strength of support for my stance and challenge for the opposing argument. By more thoroughly developing my thesis and more accurately using my insights and arguments to support that thesis, I could give this paper the solidifying polish it needs.

Other adventures.

The way I see it, there's only so much you can write about Chris. With these other stories we are able to get a fresh account of a similar adventure, and that allows us to apply perhaps a new perspective to Chris' story. I found myself having a new understanding for Chris' adventure after reading about some of these other people, primarily because some of them came across to me as less reckless, more intuitive, or even just more interesting. This allowed me to appreciate parts of Chris I otherwise never even saw. These other stories help bring the whole theme of the book more into focus.

Response to Group B

In the first couple chapters of the book it was hard to determine the kind of person that McCandles was. It was originally clear to me that McCandles was making a reckless decision with his life and that his decisions in preparation for his trip made him seem like a complete fool. I do still believe he is a fool, but I know further understand the passion he had that made him that fool. He was driven by romantic ideas, and some admirable and beautiful passions about experiencing a lifestyle that few ever will or would ever be willing to try. His idealistic view of a perfect story of leaving the his world on a heroic story of adventure and meaning was where his realistic sense was lost though. I admire his effort but he was foolish and unrealistic in his decisions, not having the sense to see, he wasn't prepared for the adventure that he set up for failure.

An introduction.

Some people call me Casey James, but usually just close friends. Just Casey works great for me. I've lived in Washington all my life, born in Bellevue, lived in Kirkland growing up, and currently home is in Woodinville. At school I am studying Psychology and plan on continuing my education once I graduate from WSU. I am the Vice President of Delta Sigma Phi, to which I am dedicated and cherish. Lets see, I do love to party, but who doesn't? So more interestingly, I love music, used to be into the hardcore scene, but I listen to nearly every genre, from ambient trance to hip-hop to death metal (And YES that includes some country.) Almost anything interests me, so I love to learn; I could spend hours reading about things on Wikipedia. I love to have deep conversation about all sorts of subjects or just life in general. Various things that I'm into include, psychology, philosophy, art, photography, guitar and gaming. Other than that I guess I like beer and ladies! (Could have just kept it that simple.)
